In the "Character Close-up" section serves as a demonstration of the principals of animation by showcasing a spectracular Pixar zoetrope of Toy Story characters.
A new addition to the Animation Pavilion inside Disney's California Adventure, the Toy Story (II) Zoetrope illustrates how animation works, but on a grand scale.
This features a series of spinning discs, each with a different 3-D animation (parachuting army men, Jessie spinning a rope, Buzz walking on a ball, Woody riding Bullseye, Wheezy jumping on a see-saw, and Luxo Jr. waving.
Be aware that the animation effect occurs because the spinning of the wheels is timed with a strobe light.
