Soarin's hang gliding simulation is stunning. You'll believe you're flying over some of California's famous sights, such as the Golden Gate Bridge.
When Soarin' opened along with the debut of Disney's California Adventure, a vintage aircraft flew over the attraction to mark the occasion.
The film projected in the attraction uses IMAX projection systems with high-speed, high-definition Omni-max film projectors.
Special cameras on airplanes and helicopters captured many of the shots and the glider moves the same way the aircraft did, so you really feel like you're flying as you glide over the awe-inspiring vistas and landmarks.
Be sure to notice the smells of pine and oranges during certain scenes.
For the scene that takes place at Disneyland park, the film crew had to arrange for a special staging of the Disneyland parade.
There are three flight vehicles that hold 10 (left), 9 (center) and 10 (right) in 3 sections (Alpah, Bravo & Charlie gates) for a total capacity of 87 flyers per show, which lasts 4 mintues and 40 seconds. |
