When that didn't work, Mark Sumner, a senior technical director and project/ride engineer at Imagineering, created a ride prototype using Erector Set pieces. His concept evolved into Soarin'.

In the preshow, Patrick Warburton tells a Guest he has to take off his Mickey ears and stow them in the underseat compartment.
