The story or theme at 50's Prime Time Café is that Mom is in the kitchen cooking, and everyone present is family.
Generally everyone is referred to as kids—when the Smith family checks in and their table is ready, an announcement is made calling the “Smith kids.”
Pass through a time warp into a 1950s family kitchen where guests dine watching Leave it to Beaver and Father Knows Best on black and white TVs sitting on the counter between the toaster and the blender.
Linoleum floors, Formica tables, pull-down lamps, windows covered in venetian blinds, and tacky drapes are accompanied by a menu of savory renditions of good old American comfort foods like crackling-crisp golden fried chicken.
"Mom" herself is your server, making sure everyone in the "family" observes good manners. No fighting at the table! No throwing spitballs! Mustn't forget to eat your vegetables!

Our "mom" told us to set our own table;
she didn't do chores.
The dessert menu also comes on an old fashioned View-Master reel, which you can click and see a picture of the dessert along with it's name and price. What a great themed idea !! |
