Disney cast members dressed in 1920s newsboy costumes usher you onto open trams waiting against the backdrop of the Hollywood Hills, and you're off on a tour of cinematic climaxes—with a little help from Audio-Animatronics, scrim, smoke, and Disney magic.

Interesting Facts:

Many of the props in the lobby of the theater are authentic, such as the carousel horse from Mary Poppins.

The belt buckle worn by John Wayne in the Western Scene is an actual buckle worn by the Duke in one of his movies.

Gene Kelly inspected his Audio-Animatronic likeness personally.

Ingrid Bergman's daughter Isabella Rosselini has brought her children to this attraction to see their grandmother in the Casablanca scene.

What is the significance behind the license plate number "021-429" on the car depicted in the gangster shoot-out sequence?” It is the date of the Valentines Day Massacre---Feb. 14, 1929.

It is interesting to note that while it seems that the James Cagney audio-animatronic is based on the Tom Powers character from The Public Enemy, the scene depicted does not actually appear in that particular film.

The Gangster Alley set also makes reference to another James Cagney 1920s-era gangster movie. The Red and Blue Cab Company and Gold Shield Whiskey are both derived from the 1939 film The Roaring Twenties.

In the Alien movie scene, the first status monitor on the bottom left side, displays the ship's statistics. As shown in the photo to the left, if you scan to about the middle of the message, you read "THE NOSTROMO (the name of the commercial towing spaceship in the movie) WELCOMES ALL ALIENS VISITING TODAY FROM THE GLENDALE GALAXY. WE HOPE YOU HAVE A PLEASANT STAY WITH US. GOO VISCOSITY: VERY GOOEY / REMARKS: EEEEOOOOO TIME TO NEXT SPECIAL EFFECT FAILURE.....45.8 YEARS"

The computer screens in Alien have all the names of the creators of the ride. (You're moving to fast to see them while on the ride, but here ENGINEER: G KOCH is visible)

Look for a "Hidden Donald" in the hieroglyphics of the Raiders of the Lost Ark scene having lunch with Mickey Mouse. (it is on the last stone pillar on the left).

Other hidden characters in this scene are C-3PO and R2-D2, from "Star Wars."

During the Wizard of Oz sequence of the Great Movie Ride, if you look closely at Dorothy's house, you will see the striped socks of the Wicked Witch sticking out from under the bottom. Hanging nearby is her Certificate of Death. Ding Dong, the witch is dead!
