Peevy's Polar Pipeline - a snack stand formerly known as Lakeside News - is a reference to a Disney film that was set in 1930s Hollywood. The Rocketeer, released in 1991, featured an eccentic tinkerer named Peevy who helpded the title character figure out how to operate his newfound flying contraption.
During the summer the movie premiered, Disney's Hollywood Studios presented a real Rocketter with a real jet pack flying high in the sky over the Chinese Theater. The building in which Peevy's now resides was based on the 1940 Fire Company No. 1 from Pasadena, California. |
