Corridor of Doors

The spirits begin to grow more restless and make their prescense known as the Doom Buggies glide down the long Corridor of Doors. Doorknobs and handles twist and turn every which way, and knockers in the shape of spiked maces bang against their doors - by themselves. Unseen prescenses pound unmercifully on doors from the other side.

Otherworldly creatures snarl, growl, howl, and groan, dying to get out into the hallway. A pair of monstrous hands grips one door in a relentless attempt to break it open. Another door even appears to breathe, bulging out as a powerful force acts upon it from within the room.

The Grandfather Clock

As the Doom Buggies leave the Corridor of Doors they pass by an ornate grandfather clock that is perpetually striking thirteen. The hour and minute hands spin madly around the face as the shadow of a claw passes over the clock.

The moving shadow is one of the simplest effects in the Haunted Mansion: a silhouette of a claw rotating in front of a lighting fixture.

The devil is in the details. If you peer closesly into the gloomy darkness, you can see that the top half of the cabinet is actually the head of a demon, the clock's face sitting inside its gaping maw, and the swining pendulum is the demon's forked tongue.
