Did you know that no two horses on the carrousel are identical? And that there are 84 of them, but only 64 of them are "on stage" at any given time, the rest being under constant refurbishment. Many of the horses have names, such as Avanti, Dante, Daisy, Flash, and King. Click here to see a full roster of their names, provided by a cast member in City Hall. The person in charge of polishing the brass poles spends six hours at the task every night. It takes about 2 hours before a song repeats! "Jingles", the lead horse, was dedicated to Julie Andrews as seen in the photo to the left. They added "JA" (her initials), a Mary Poppin's silhouette and shoes to honor her. She won the Oscar in 1964 for her role, and was Disneyland's 50th anniversary spokesperson. |
