On June 23, 1999, Tarzan’s Treehouse began welcoming park guests, just as Disney’s animated Tarzan premiered in movie theaters.
It is located on the former site of the Swiss Family Treehouse, an attraction that opened in November 18, 1962 and was based on the Disney film "Swiss Family Robinson." For its reintroduction as Tarzan's home, 10 feet were added to the tree.
The 450 branches were redressed with nearly 6,000 lacy leaves, then draped with moss and covered with jungle vines to make it feel like the rightful home to the "Lord of the Apes."
The "climb-through" attraction unfolds in a 80-foot-tall tree that overlooks the Jungle Cruise attraction and Adventureland.
Wheelchair Access: This attraction requires Guests to negotiate a continuous series of narrow, winding stairs. To enter, proceed through the interactive area by requesting the assistance of a Cast Member at the entrance of Pirates of the Caribbean
