Counter service dining featuring Mexican cuisine that is a dubloon's toss from the exit of the Pirates of the Caribbean attration. It is only open seasonally.
It was previously known as El Pirata Y El Perico Restaurante (The Pirate and the Parrot) but was rechristened as the Tortuga Tavern in February 2011. The menu remained the same.
As for the name, it seems to be inspired by the wildly popular Pirates of the Caribbean films. Tortuga is, after all, the lawless island in the Caribbean where Captain Jack frequently visits in order to recruit crews, plot and plan, drink, find pleasant company, and, well, generally unwind between exploits. |
